About this Collection

This collection presents the opening arc of the 2009 Wolverine: Weapon X series, written by Jason Aaron with art by Ron Garney. It follows a newly independent Wolverine as he takes on a secret mission for the mysterious Romulus, leading him into a brutal conflict that redefines his role as a weapon. The volume collects issues #1-5 of the series.

In "Weapon X [Prologue]," Barry Windsor-Smith delivers a stark, visceral return to the origins of Wolverine, with every page drawn, inked, and colored by the legendary artist himself. After waking from the brutal transformation of the Weapon X program, Logan finds himself in a world where the men who created him—Cornelius, Hines, and even the Professor—believe they’ve secured their safety through implanted memories of their own deaths at his hands. But as Logan slips into the Canadian wilderness, it’s clear his mind is sharper than they ever imagined. The cover, also by Windsor-Smith, captures the moment with haunting precision.

Logan returns to his senses after his transformation by Weapon X. The Professor, Cornelius and Hines, still very much alive, congratulate themselves on implanting the memory in Logan's brain of their own deaths at his hand, thus ensuring their safety. But Logan is craftier than they think. Logan escapes the Weapon X program and wanders off into the Canadian wilderness.
