The Sandman
DC · 1974–1975 · 6 issues
About the series
A short-lived but visually distinctive 1970s DC revival, this six-issue series reimagined the original Sandman as a costumed hero who battles supernatural threats with a dream-gas gun. Written primarily by Michael Fleisher and Joe Simon, with striking art by Jack Kirby and Ernie Chua, the title introduced the dream-dimension dwellers Brute and Glob and the human host Garrett Sanford. Though brief, it's a fascinating footnote to Kirby's cosmic style and a precursor to the more famous Sandman mythos that would follow.
