The Tick

Ben Edlund’s The Tick (1988–1993, New England Comics) launched as a satirical superhero comic that gleefully skewered the tropes of the genre while building its own absurdly charming world. With Edlund as the primary writer and artist alongside Max Banks, the 13-issue run introduced the indestructible, blue-suited hero and his oddball supporting cast, blending slapstick humor with a genuine affection for the caped crusaders it parodied.
