Who is Wonder Man?
Few characters can claim a Silver Age debut and still be making waves over six decades later, but Wonder Man is exactly that kind of Marvel institution. Born from the imaginations of Stan Lee and Don Heck in The Avengers #9 back in 1964, he stepped onto the page in the company of legends — Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor among them — and never really left, racking up an extraordinary 606 catalog appearances across The Avengers, Avengers, and West Coast Avengers. With 28 key issues to his name, collectors have had plenty of reasons to chase his appearances over the years. If you want a character who embodies Marvel's sweeping history from the Silver Age to the present, Wonder Man is absolutely worth your time.

Trivia
- Wonder Man was initially intended to be a villainous plant inside the Avengers, so his early stories were built around a twist rather than a standard origin hero launch.en.wikipedia.org
- He is one of Marvel's clearest cases of a character whose death was later retconned into a suspended ionic-energy state, which is why later stories could bring him back without treating the earlier ending as a normal resurrection.en.wikipedia.org
- Wonder Man's powers became a major production-variable concept over time: Marvel has described him as starting with strength and invulnerability, then later evolving into a more explicitly energy-based being with added abilities like flight and energy-state shifting.en.wikipedia.org
- He became an unusually important career bridge for the line because Marvel later tied his story to a second life as a Hollywood stuntman and actor, making him one of the few Avengers whose mainstream comic identity deliberately overlaps with show-business satire rather than pure superheroics.en.wikipedia.org
- Kurt Busiek has written more of Wonder Man's comics than any other writer in our catalog — 27 issues.
