Phil Jimenez

Phil Jimenez was born on July 12, 1970, and has built a career as both artist and writer across more than three decades in American comics. He broke into the industry in the early 1990s, accumulating credits on titles ranging from Team Titans to The Invisibles, the latter a collaboration with writer Grant Morrison that helped establish his reputation for intricate, detail-rich draftsmanship.

His most sustained creative statement came during his run as writer and artist on Wonder Woman from 2000 to 2003, a stretch that demonstrated his deep affection for the character and her mythology. He returned to that world decades later in a very different register, partnering with writer Kelly Sue DeConnick on Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons in 2021 — a project that earned widespread critical praise for its ambitious visual scope. In between, he was one of five pencilers on the sprawling DC event miniseries Infinite Crisis (2005–2006) and continued his working relationship with Morrison on New X-Men. Later work included the title Superwoman, further broadening his engagement with powerful female characters. Across roughly 285 credited issues, Jimenez has remained one of contemporary superhero comics' most meticulous visual storytellers, equally at home illustrating ensemble epics and quieter character-driven narratives.
