Ted McKeever
1960–
Ted McKeever (born 1960) is an American comic book writer and artist who built a singular career over nearly three decades, from 1987 to 2016. He is best known for his distinctive, often grotesque visual style and his work as both writer and artist on a string of idiosyncratic creator-owned titles, including *Transit*, *Eddy Current*, *Plastic Forks*, *Metropol*, *Industrial Gothic*, *Miniature Jesus*, and *The Superannuated Man*. McKeever also left a mark on mainstream comics, most notably with a run on *Doom Patrol* and the series *Enginehead*. His work is characterized by a dense, scratchy linework and a darkly satirical sensibility, often blending absurdist humor with dystopian themes. In 2016, following the completion of his semi-autobiographical series *Pencil Head*, McKeever retired from the comics industry entirely, leaving behind a body of work that remains a touchstone for fans of uncompromising, auteur-driven storytelling.
