“And One of Us Must Die!”

In "And One of Us Must Die!", the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America join forces with the Seven Soldiers on Earth-2 to confront the looming threat of the Hand, a mysterious force seeking to destroy the parallel world. With the fate of Earth-2 hanging in the balance, the heroes face a harrowing choice—someone must risk everything to wield the Nebula-Rod and stop the impending catastrophe, echoing a sacrifice made decades earlier. Written by Len Wein and brought to life by Dick Dillin’s dynamic art and Joe Giella and Dick Giordano’s precise inking, this pivotal issue features a cover by Nick Cardy that captures the tension of the moment.

As the JLA and JSA teams reunite in the present alongside the Seven Soldiers on Earth-2, the Hand makes his final move to destroy Earth-2 itself. In order to stop the nebulous hand about to crush Earth-Two, one of the heroes must deliver the Nebula-Rod into the heart of the menace, much like how Wing had sacrificed his life vs. the Nebula Man in the early 50's, as earlier revealed. Red Tornado makes the sacrifice and the Hand is captured, both teams victorious.
