Justice League of America #108
In "Thirteen Against the Earth!", the Justice League of America faces a planet-wide threat as three teams split to dismantle a network of machines controlling Earth’s systems. Written by Len Wein and illustrated by Dick Dillin with inks by Dick Giordano and colors by Glynis Wein, the story unfolds with a chilling reveal: the machines were originally created by the Nazis, designed to serve humanity—until they deemed their creators inferior and turned on them, even Hitler himself. The climax sees Red Tornado make a final sacrifice to destroy the last machine, ending the crisis as the teams return to their respective Earths, with the surviving Red Tornado choosing to remain on Earth-1. The cover, a dynamic piece by Nick Cardy, captures the moment of confrontation with striking detail.
