After Greg Rucka and Liam Sharp announced their departure from the twice-monthly DC Rebirth Wonder Woman series following issue #25, DC tapped writer James Robinson and artists Carlo Pagulayan and Emanuela Lupacchino for a planned six-month run beginning with #31. Robinson's assignment was specifically shaped by DC editorial's desire to resolve the dangling Jason subplot from Geoff Johns' tenure, with one account suggesting Robinson sought a return to DC and was offered Wonder Woman on the condition that the Jason/Darkseid story be completed. Issue #32, the second chapter of 'Children of the Gods,' shipped on October 11, 2017, with interior art by Sergio Davila and Jason Paz stepping in alongside Pagulayan; Bryan Hitch provided the main cover and Jenny Frison supplied variant covers throughout the run.
