Abraham Lincoln - Franklin D. Roosevelt #19-3541 (1979)
Nestor P. Redondo was born on May 4, 1928, in the Philippines, and died on December 30, 1995. He is best known for his detailed, atmospheric artwork for American publishers like DC and Marvel during the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as for co-creating the iconic Filipino superheroine Darna. Redondo began his career in the Philippines in the early 1950s, working on local comics before his expressive, cross-hatched style caught the attention of U.S. editors. His American work includes long runs on *Swamp Thing*, *House of Secrets*, and *Rima, the Jungle Girl*, where his lush, moody linework perfectly suited horror and jungle adventure. He also contributed to *Mi Gran Aventura* and the Norwegian anthology *Topp-serien*, and later penciled the short-lived science-fiction series *Aztec Ace*. Redondo collaborated frequently with writers like Gerry Conway and Len Wein, and his inking and coloring skills were often credited alongside his penciling. In the Philippines, his legacy is anchored by Darna, a character he helped bring to life in the 1950s. Redondo’s influence endures among fans of Bronze Age horror and adventure comics, and his work remains sought after by collectors.
