The Savage Sword of Conan #55
In "Black Lotus and Yellow Death," Conan stands at the edge of a deadly ritual, sword in hand and ax aimed at a shadowy figure whose glowing hands are the only visible part. With a woman bound to an altar behind him and another frozen in fear, the barbarian faces a wizard and a winged demon in a scene charged with dread and ancient magic. The story, illustrated with bold, dynamic lines by Steve Swenston, captures the raw intensity of the Hyborian Age, while Earl Norem’s striking cover perfectly frames the moment’s peril.
